CREATING YOUR HOME OFFICE SPACE…for success!
I think there are many factors in deciding to have our own business from home. After we have made that one big one to become our own boss, its really important to decide how we are going to work from home.
One of the steps to success is to start by claiming a part of our house that will work as our office. Claiming and creating our home office space is a great start to acknowledging that we are taking this seriously.
After all, she affirms, this is not our hobby, this is our future.
So do you have to run out to the office store and invest immediately in office furniture? No. Not at all. Remember we are starting a new business. Although we are so excited about our new venture, capital is not yet flowing, grin. So be judicious in what is really needed to make a comfortable working space.
For instance, a table can double as a desk. And our laptop, (or PC) can travel where ever we need it to be. So look around the space with a thought of an office.
Is that little nook under the stairs a perfect fit for a desk? Is there a window that provides load of sunlight? Or is the kitchen a comfortable set up? Does that space in the bedroom that is not used, just what is needed? Be creative.
Even if you live in a small place there are so many ways to make room for an office. Extra space on a lower book shelf ? Yup, office space. Even a TV tray can work! There is no stopping when clarity and focus are our guides.
For me, I love that I can see my mountains, when I work. The beauty gives me joy and inspiration.
Whatever space is chosen, remember, you want to be ready to spend hours there. A comfortable chair is definitely number one priority. And add anything that motivates you. Lighting, pillows, music, and determination!
I like affirmations around me, such as: Be great at whatever you do. I see that affirmation as living in my highest good. Or another one, mountains move out of the way of the master, for the master knows no obstacles.
And since I am a color and nature person, I make sure I have a pretty scarf draped nearby and blooming plants. I also keep some of my art work nearby to remind me that creativity is an act I choose. Because I am choosing to create this business! My favorite tea cup is within reach.
(Just a reminder drink a lot during the day, besides keeping you hydrated, it reminds you to get up every so often, you know why.. And it also gives your eyes and body a breather).
I also started another thing to actually change my thinking and make me giggle at myself. I put up a jar that says: Charges for: whining, complaining, pouting, crying, cursing, doubting myself. Each time I do an act on that jar, I place coins in a jar. I figure if nothing else I will treat myself to new crystals or a glass of wine when the jar is filled.
Or hopefully I will get the part about changing my behavior and not have to place any more coins in the jar! It is a great light-hearted reminder of how I am doing this for me.
So where did you find your space? Does it inspire you? Make you smile? Feel confident? Is it beautiful?
